'The coffee boys'
Hi, we're Tom & Ashley! Otherwise known between friends as: The Coffee Boys.
We founded Fawn Coffee in 2021 and have continued to grow from a mobile coffee shop to a bricks and mortar with multiple outlets in our local community.
Having moved back from London after a combined 17 years in the capital, Fawn was our chance to run our own venue after years of doing it for others. We both studied and worked in media, before operating restaurants and cinemas across the city. After a gruelling couple of years with lockdowns and being forced to make lots of tough choices for other people, we realised we wanted to run our own company to focus on values that were important to us. We wanted to be able to make the right decisions in challenging times, ones that supported and helped our teams and staff and made a positive impact, rather than putting profits before people, product and planet.
The first shop!
We were very lucky to be offered a space with Nelson and Forge on Alexandra Road to open a tiny takeaway coffee shop. After the success ion our coffee van, we were itching to bring speciality coffee to the streets of Clevedon full time! We were in this venue at no 28 Alexandra Road for just 18 months before being lucky enough to move to our current address, directly across the road at no. 19!
Where it all started
Our very first 'Fawn', and the origin of the name, was this vintage 1974 Cheltenham Fawn caravan! We painstakingly restored it ourselves, converting it into a festival and market coffee van. We served events and private parties for two years in North Somerset and the surrounding areas.
We were very sorry to see the origins of the business go, but now with a full time high st shop and a National Trust Kiosk, it was time to pass the batten on. We sold our caravan to continue its life as a coffee van with a new group of budding local baristas! We can't wait to see how the van continues to get used.
